A handsome antique French kitchen and culinary balance scale manufactured by Bruyat of Lyon, featuring a substantial white marble top resting on a beautifully aged black ebonized wood base accented with delicate fruitwood border inlay. The base retains a gorgeous original patina developed over decades of use, adding warmth and authenticity to the piece. The scale also retains its original pair of removable brass weighing pans, each bearing the impressed "Bruyat Lyon" maker's mark.
Elegant enough to display as a sculptural object while retaining its industrial heritage, this balance scale beautifully combines marble, brass, and richly patinated ebonized wood into a timeless composition.
