A vintage 1967 brass ashtray by the michigan artist miner “mike” keeler. A partially sculpted heavy-cast piece with splendid details and a rich patina. The motif is inspired by ernest hemingway’s 'the old man and the sea'. This design showcases keeler’s artistic background and his connection to the keeler brass company, founded by his family in 1893. It is truly a spectacular piece with an interesting history and an almost rembrandtian presence. A collectible functional art object that works well as a decorative tray, catchall, or display piece. It is signed keeler, 67.
