Masterfully molded in B-Form relief, the interior is glazed in a deep, rich cobalt blue ground that sets a dramatic stage for the opulent ornamentation.
The bowl is lavishly decorated with heavy, matte, and polished 22k gold gilt accents that heavily encrust the borders and relief contours. The striking pattern highlights intricate white glazed acanthus leaves and scrolling Rococo elements that gracefully weave around precision-cut reticulated (pierced) lattice windows on the rim. At the center, a gilded floral medallion or laurel wreath ties the intricate design together.
The underside features the classic underglaze blue crossed swords mark. It also retains a highly desirable, well-preserved pink and gold paper retail label from the legendary luxury emporium Ernst Wahliss, located at Kärntnerstraße 17 in Wien (Vienna), Austria.
