Elevate your collection with this striking antique French Sèvres-style cachepot dating to the late 19th century (circa 1870–1890). Rich cobalt blue porcelain is accented with brilliant gilt highlights and a beautifully hand-painted floral garland, while the sculptural Greek key feet add an elegant neoclassical touch. Designed during the height of the French Third Republic’s fascination with ornate Sèvres revival porcelain, this cachepot is equally stunning displayed as a planter, centerpiece, or decorative accent.
Details:
* Antique French porcelain cachepot / jardinière
* Late 19th century, circa 1870–1890
* Sèvres revival style
* Hand-painted floral decoration
* Cobalt blue ground with gilt accents
* Architectural Greek key feet and handles
* Measures approximately 7½ inches wide x 5 inches tall
* Incised “#” mark on the unglazed base, consistent with late 19th-century French production techniques
Condition:
Very good antique condition. The upper rim has several smooth manufacturing glaze skips where the cobalt glaze did not fully adhere during production. These areas are original to the firing process and are smooth to the touch. The interior has light age-related staining and a kiln firing separation in the clay, also original to manufacture. The gilt decoration remains in very nice condition with only minor expected wear. The underside exhibits stable, star-shaped crazing visible across the base. Overall, this cachepot presents beautifully and displays exceptionally well.
