This … Read more An intriguing Chinese spinach jade bowl, a classic piece of carved lapidary art crafted from translucent green nephrite jade. This stone is well known for its signature mottled "spinach-green" body accented by darker, speckled mineral inclusions or veining. The small vessel features a gently flaring mouth rim, thin walls, and a precisely defined low foot rim. These vessels are meticulously hollowed and hand-carved out of a single block of stone. This style of translucent tableware grew immensely popular during the Qing Dynasty (1736–1795) and continued to be highly sought-after and reproduced throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.
