An exceptional set of twelve Baccarat crystal cale-assiettes (plate tilters), sourced in Paris. Designed to gently incline a dinner plate so sauces collect neatly at one edge, these elegant table accessories were especially prized for serving dishes such as asparagus with sauce.
Maison Vessière was among France's foremost purveyors of luxury crystal, operating from its celebrated boutique at 4 rue Saint-Dizier, Nancy, where it retailed exceptional works by Baccarat and other prestigious French glasshouses. A few pieces in this set still retain their original "Baccarat France" labels along with the coveted "Vessière, Spécialiste, 4 rue Saint-Dizier, Nancy" retailer labels—a rare survival that adds both provenance and collector appeal.
A wonderful detail: the set was charmingly wrapped in French newspapers dating from the 1950s, just as it was found.
