This substantial and beautifully proportioned example features a richly grained oak case with a classical pediment, finely carved detailing, fluted columns, and a deeply molded stepped base. Its bold architectural design beautifully bridges the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods, making it as compelling as a decorative object as it is a functional timepiece.

The clock houses a high-quality spring-driven German triple-train brass movement by the celebrated maker Winterhalder & Hofmeier, likely supplied to Tiffany & Co. for retail in New York. The movement drives a five-gong coil strike system producing the Westminster melody on each quarter hour, culminating in the full Westminster sequence followed by the hour strike. Professionally serviced and recently regulated, the movement is currently running beautifully and keeping excellent time.

Unlike the more commonly encountered Winterhalder & Hofmeier clocks signed only by the manufacturer or retailer, this example retains its original Tiffany & Co. dial—an increasingly uncommon feature that makes it especially desirable to collectors of Tiffany & Co. objects as well as fine antique clocks.

The original silvered and gilt dial remains beautifully preserved, featuring Roman numerals, ornate pierced hands, a textured gilt center, and richly embossed gilt corner spandrels, all protected behind the original glazed door. The five-gong configuration produces a remarkably rich, resonant sound uncommon among many standard bracket clocks of the period. Historic clockmaker service marks remain on the movement, reflecting the long tradition of professional maintenance these fine mechanical clocks received throughout their lives.

Condition:
Very good antique condition with light, age-appropriate wear consistent with more than a century of careful use. Professionally serviced and currently operating beautifully, keeping excellent time. The oak case retains an attractive warm patina with excellent color and grain. Minor surface wear and expected signs of age are present but do not detract from its outstanding presentation.
