This is an authentic, antique 8-day "Maine Line" striking mantel clock manufactured by the New Haven Clock Co. of New Haven, Connecticut. Original winding key present & included. Known for their quality craftsmanship, this piece features a classic Victorian-era aesthetic with ornate, carved wooden details that highlight its antique charm.
The Case Trim: The top crest features a stylized leaf pediment flanked by large, symmetrical scrollwork flourishes carved directly into the oak.
The Pillars: It has matching side pillars decorated with detailed floral roundels and leafy, swirling Art Nouveau reliefs.
The Glass Door: The glass features a well-preserved, completely intact, ornate gold-stenciled filigree pattern that showcases the original brass pendulum swinging inside.
The clock face features traditional Roman numerals.
On the back, the clock retains its original intact manufacturer's label, which identifies it as an "8 Day Maine Line" clock.
Maintenance Tips from the Label:
Speed Adjustment: If the clock goes too fast, lower the pendulum ball; if too slow, raise it.
Setting Time: The minute hand can generally be moved forward without injuring the clock.
Syncing Strike: If it strikes the wrong hour, there is often a small wire under the figure XII that can be lifted to manually advance the strike mechanism until it matches the time.
