While it was separated from its siblings in the intervening 250 some years, it makes a wonderful accent chair and can be used to create vignettes full of character. The broader Rococo style is commonly referred to as Chippendale in British and American furniture, and it often includes imagery from nature. The elegant carvings on the back-splat include leaf fronds and flower petals that add visual interest without being overwhelming. Made of mahogany and with molding on the edge of the legs, this piece would have been part a high-end dining set, likely custom made for a client in the period. While the seat material is not original, it is a pleasing pink velvet. See less
