This great piece has stylish figural base in the Nuremberg/Hanau tradition. The base features a cherub atop a dolphin above a simple repousse base, the base supports a crystal glass molded and cut dish with silver tail. The dish is probably made to hold sweet meats or nuts. The hallmarks on the base attribute it to Hanau silversmith J.D. Schleissner & Sohne probably circa 1890.
