This is an exceptional and remarkably large late-Victorian pedestal punch bowl manufactured by Furnivals of Cobridge, Staffordshire, England. Featuring the highly desirable "Rustic" pattern, this piece showcases a rich, deep brown transferware design depicting an intricate, naturalistic aesthetic of sprawling boughs, dense foliage, and stylized organic elements characteristic of the late 19th-century English Aesthetic Movement.
Measuring an impressive 16 inches in diameter, this substantial bowl sits on an integrated pedestal foot, making it a commanding centerpiece for a sideboard, holiday table, or institutional display. The interior rim is heavily decorated with a broad, repeating continuous border of the pattern, while the exterior of the basin and foot are equally adorned with detailed transfers. The stark contrast of the deep sepia-brown glaze against the creamy white semi-porcelain body provides immense visual depth.
The underside bears the complete printed backstamp including the classic Furnivals anchor trade mark surrounded by a ribbon reading "Royal Semi-Porcelain," the pattern name "Rustic," and the country of origin "England." Crucially, it features the crisp British Registered Design Number 205300, which securely firmly links the pattern's inception to early 1893.
