In outstanding condition for it's vintage and style, this traditional rococo motif platter is dominated by a trompe l'Oleil gold … Read more In outstanding condition for it's vintage and style, this traditional rococo motif platter is dominated by a trompe l'Oleil gold bow and holly & berries nosegay at either end. The center of the platter features the Florentine fleur-de-lis pattern repeated in an oval arrangement, all in relief. Gold gilt accents the piece in the two large bows on the handle ends, the trompe l'Oleil gold rope that surrounds the tray as well as two lines finely painted at the inner borders. Additional gold is found on the raised circle directly at the center and at diamond shaped concavities between each fleur-de-lis. The outer borders feature raised swirl patterns between alternating shells, and a harlequin basket weave at the inner slope to the base. Colors on the nosegays are various shades of green fading to chartreuse, pale yellow, accented with cranberry, red, purple, yellow and gold, all leading to a grand royal appearance worthy of a fine holiday celebration.

Condition notes:
Most of the gold gilt is intact, which is rare to find in delicate hand painted pieces of Fitz and Floyd of this era. Some slight wear is evident on close inspection at the thinly painted inner lines around the basket weave pattern. This piece is stunning!
