The well hollowed snuff bottle is made of agate with diagonal and horizontal bands giving the bottle an interesting and pretty appearance. One side of the bottle has a black triangular shape at the base. A white line in the shape of triangle occupies both sides of the bottle. The color, the lines on this flattened bottle have a natural beauty. The bottle tapers into small raised oval foot. The neck is short, the mouth is not flat but is slight concave. The hollowed inside with the concave mouth are signs of good age. The bottle is matched with a tan color agate stopper.
I learned from my recent visit to China that the craftsmen who made these natural stone bottles have retired or close to retirement age. The production has slowed down. I am glad I was able to buy this collection 20 years ago.
