An exceptional mid-century Chinese hand-embroidered silk panel depicting the auspicious "One Hundred Children" (Baizi) motif celebrating with a ceremonial Dragon Dance. Sourced from a curated Santa Barbara, California estate, this large-scale decorative textile features remarkable color preservation and intense textural depth.
Artisanal Craftsmanship:
• Central Imagery: Detailed figures executed in fine silk satin stitches on a luminous salmon-peach silk ground.
• Luxury Border: Meticulously worked in traditional "pan jin xiu" (gold couching) technique, utilizing genuine metallic gold threads anchored to a black satin border.
• Inner Guard: Intricate blue and white geometric silk lattice framework.
Framing & Condition Notes:
• Textile Condition: Excellent, vibrant vintage condition with completely stable colors and no structural thread loss.
• Museum-Safe Mount: Hand-stitched (lace-mounted) flat to a backing board without harmful adhesives. A single outer anchoring thread is clipped at the edge but does not affect stability.
• Framing Status: Sold flat in its mat frame wrap without outer wood or glass. Ready to be dropped directly into a standard frame. For reference, this piece was originally housed in a frame measuring 21.5" W x 36.5" H with a 0.75" depth.
Specifications:
• Style: Chinoiserie, Grandmillennial, Hollywood Regency
• Matted Panel Size: 36.0" H x 21.0" W x 0.1" D
• Original Frame Fit: 36.5" H x 21.5" W x 0.75" D
