An exquisite mid-century Chinese silk embroidery panel showcasing exceptional artistry and auspicious symbolism.
Sourced from a prominent Santa Barbara, California estate known for its extensive collection of fine Asian decorative arts, this substantial 36" by 21" textile serves as a significant festive statement piece.
The composition features a striking outer border meticulously worked in traditional pan jin xiu (盤金繡 / gold couching), where fine metallic gold threads are anchored to a black satin ground. This border forms stylized lucky bats (fu) for good fortune and interlocking ancient cash coins symbolizing endless prosperity. An inner geometric lattice border in blue and white silk frames the vibrant, salmon-peach colored central silk field, which depicts a lively celebration of the traditional "One Hundred Children" (Baizi) motif performing a ceremonial Dragon Dance.
Full of rich texture and historical charm, this collector-grade textile brings sophisticated color to Chinoiserie, Grandmillennial, or Hollywood Regency interiors.
