An antique English blue and white transferware platter by Copeland Spode in the classic “Tower” pattern, dated March 1903.
The romantic landscape scene — with its riverside tower, stone bridge, birds in flight, and stylized trees — is rendered in richly saturated cobalt blue tones with beautiful depth and contrast throughout the transfer. A floral border surrounds the central reserve, while the softly molded white rim gives the platter a more dimensional look than many flatter transferware examples.
At just over 17 inches long, this is an especially versatile decorative size — beautiful displayed on a wall, layered into a blue and white collection, or used as a serving piece at table.
Marked underside: “Copeland Spode’s Tower England,” with impressed factory date marks for March 1903.
