American in Origin - … Read more This Really is an Absolutely Beautiful, Quite Rare and Very Fine Quality Rye Whiskey Dispenser Bottle. American in Origin - Circa Approx 1900. This Standard Traditional Style "Fifth" ( 750 Milliliters / 25.4 Fluid Ounces ) Size Glass Bottle has a Very Fancy, Thick - Heavy Exterior Silver Overlay Decorated Exterior. This Time Complicated and Time Consuming Work is Hand Applied by a Master Silversmith in The "Silver Deposit" Technique with All Finely Detailed Hand Engraved Embellishments. NOTE That it is Marked "FINE 999/1000 SILVER" - This Actually Being PURE SILVER as Opposed to Sterling Silver Having a Somewhat Lower Silver Content of 925/1000 Pure.

It is Also Marked with the Company Name of BLACK STARR & FROST this being the Esteemed and Well Documented Boston Departments Store that Still Resides Today. The Fancy Overlay Work is Done in a Classic American Transitional Late Victorian - Art Nouveau Style with Realistic Rye Stalks Entwined into the Design. A True Masterpiece Created in a Style of Silver Work that has Basically Become a Lost Art. NOTE Also that There is a Single Designated Panel in the Design For Intended for Engraved Monograms that is Blank - Has Never Been Used.

It is Not Marked as Such but the Actual Silver Overlay Work Can Easily Be Attributed to the Alvin - Gorham Silver Manufacturing Company Known to be the Major Producer of These Types of Silver Overlay Pieces.

It is in Excellent All Original Condition. It is Perfectly Functional and it Displays Beautifully. No Damage. It is Lightly Tarnished. Non Original Cork Pictured Included.
