The beautiful Swan chair is a landmark of mid-century modern design, created by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the lobby and reception areas of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
Today, it is recognized worldwide as one of the triumphs of Jacobsen's legendary career and a monumental achievement in Scandinavian craftsmanship.
It is celebrated for its revolutionary form, which contains no straight line or sharp angles, only fluid, organic curves. Its form is inspired by nature, specifically the wings and curves of a swan rather than geometric shapes.
Fritz Hansen hand stitches the finish on every Swan chair. The technique is a unique talent that is learned and passed on through Fritz Hansen craftsmen.
