The rod is made of iron by a master blacksmith, the iron is twisted in the upper part to create a pattern that is typical of this type of work. The main piece was artfully shaped from brass with a hammer, the motifs are beautiful. This bed warmer is said to have come from the house of a whaler who became rich at that time. To use it, you take the embers from the fireplace and put them in the brass bowl, which you then put under the covers before going to bed, so you have a nice warm bed even in the cold months in Europe.
