Styled in the manner of 1980s designer powerhouses like Maitland-Smith, Chelsea House, and LaBarge, this heavy, substantial statement piece is built from solid wood and finished as a one-of-a-kind Turtle and Crane bespoke studio restoration.
The Hand-Finished ProcessWe completely reworked the original vintage wood frame using a multi-layered finishing process in our atelier. After applying a crisp white lacquer base, we hand-worked a darker accent glaze directly into the faux bamboo nodes and grain. This step adds deep shadow and contrast, making the organic texture of the wood frame stand out. The original polished brass inlay is left intact, creating a bright, gleaming border next to the mirror glass.
Styling & Design Heritage This designer-grade wood mirror captures the clean tropical glamour of Dorothy Draper and the maximalist, layered aesthetic of Tony Duquette. It functions as "wall jewelry," working beautifully in grand entryways, over a fireplace mantel, or centered above a dining room sideboard.
