working vintage Reuge Sainte-Croix music box housed in a richly figured burl wood veneer case with brass-tone trim. A glass viewing panel reveals the Swiss mechanical movement, allowing the cylinder and comb to be seen while the music plays.
The original underside label identifies three selections: a piece from Verdi’s Rigoletto, “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’,” and “Anniversary Song.” The base is stamped “Made in Switzerland.”
The box winds and plays smoothly. Its compact size and visible mechanism make it well suited for display on a desk, bookshelf, dresser, or within a collection of mechanical music boxes.
