This mid-century figural lamp began as a forgotten vintage carving. Today a seated Guan Yu scholar figure, hand gilded in weathered, multi-tonal parcel gilt, sits above a body finished in faux lapis lazuli. We built the lapis in layers of resin, deep blue with a shimmer like stardust, and flecked it with gold leaf in the way pyrite sits in natural stone.

A custom silk shade in black with an oxblood trim tops the lamp, and a resin branch coral, mounted as a finial in our Atelier, adds a note of red. The lamp has been rewired with new components and is in working order. It measures 17" wide, 17" deep, and 37" high. Made in the United States in the mid 20th century, it brings Chinoiserie, Hollywood Regency, and Palm Beach Regency drama to a console, a sideboard, or a mantel, in the style of Tony Duquette, James Mont, and Karl Springer. Every painted and gilded surface of the lamp is newly hand finished in our Atelier.
