A hand-worked brass bowl, signed and dated Dresden, 1925. It has a hand-hammered scalloped edge with a Deco-styled embossed antelope on the bottom.
Produced at a moment when German design was moving from the fluidity of Jugendstil toward the restraint of Art Deco, the bowl sits between those styles: organic in outline, but disciplined in its repetition.
The bowl measures 7” in diameter and 1-1/2” high. It is in outstanding vintage condition.
