Crafted from a single, substantial block of tropical hardwood, this statement piece features a warm, honey-toned polished finish that beautifully showcases the natural wood grain. It is crowned with an oversized solid brass stem and a single, lifelike leaf, offering a sophisticated metallic contrast to the organic form.

At 10.5 inches tall and weighing a substantial 5 lbs 6 oz, this is a rare find. While 8-inch versions are more common, this colossal variety provides a significantly larger presence, making it a true focal point for a mantle, large coffee table, or professional office suite. It perfectly captures the whimsical yet refined aesthetic of 1970s Costa Rican woodcarving. The original gold foil "Made in Costa Rica" label remains on the base.

This piece is in good vintage condition with a character-building patina consistent with its 50-year history. Brass: The solid brass stem and leaf show natural signs of age, including pitting and oxidation (see photos). he hand-carved body shows minor surface wear, including some light scuffing and small areas of finish loss on the "shoulder" near the stem. These imperfections are typical for large-scale tropical hardwood carvings of this era and do not detract from its impressive scale.
