Original black Hitchcock rocking chairs, often featuring black-painted (ebonized) maple wood, hand-stenciled gold flower motifs, and original rush seats, make up this iconic 19th-century American "fancy" chair. There is antique wear to the seating, with the gold also coming off of some of the spindles. Condition is fair for its antique age + use.
