Antique rocking chair dating to the late 19th to early 20th century. Constructed in wood, likely oak, with turned legs and a spindle backrest featuring decorative detailing consistent with Victorian design.
Seat is handwoven cane. Rocker base with curved runners. Design includes traditional turned elements and carved or barley twist-style spindle work typical of the period.
Armless rocking chairs are less common than their upholstered or armrest counterparts and were often used as lighter, more versatile seating. Their open form allowed for easier movement and placement, commonly used in bedrooms, nurseries, or informal sitting areas where a smaller footprint and mobility were preferred.
