A contemporary interpretation of the Chinese yoke-back “official’s hat” chair, executed in polished stainless steel. The form remains true to its Ming dynasty origins—defined by the sweeping crest rail, outturned arms, and balanced proportions—while the reflective surface brings it into a modern context. The material shifts the piece from traditional to sculptural. Light moves across the surface, emphasizing line and silhouette over ornament, allowing it to read as both seating and statement. Softened edges and fluid joins keep it refined rather than industrial.
Substantial and well-constructed, it sits comfortably as-is, though it can be softened with a cushion if desired. Works well as a singular accent, at the head of a table, or placed where it can be read in the round.

JUNE'S THOUGHTS
This is one of those pieces where the material completely changes the conversation. The form is centuries old, but the stainless steel makes it feel current and slightly unexpected. I like it best where it has a little space around it—so the lines can do the work.
