A compelling mid-century American studio pottery oval bowl, handcrafted in Woodstock, New York and signed to the underside.

Executed in speckled stoneware, the bowl features a bold abstract linear motif carved through layered glaze, revealing the natural clay body beneath. The surface displays a rich, painterly interplay of turquoise, oxblood red, and smoky charcoal tones, creating depth and organic movement across the interior. The restrained palette and expressive carving are characteristic of American studio ceramics associated with the Woodstock artistic community.

The underside retains visible throwing rings and an incised signature. The mark appears to read a maker’s name (possibly “Gaffin”) above the clearly inscribed location “Woodstock, N.Y.”, confirming its place of origin.
