Solidly constructed and heavy, it is considered one of the most sought-after mid-century brands of this furniture style.
I very thoroughly research every listing I post. I even found the Henredon Artefacts catalog page that shows this specific item. It is a very unusual piece that is highly unlikely to be counterfeit. Maker's marks are usually in a drawer or on the back of a case goods piece. This piece has no drawers, and has a finished front and back. There are no markings at all on the bottom, the inside ceiling, below the shelf, or even on or underneath the pull out supports for the flip top. I have also researched other listings for this exact item, including on Chairish, and none of them show maker's marks. I have done due diligence to ensure that this is indeed a Henredon Artefacts Mobile Server, Item #25-7500 in the Artefacts catalog (see last photo).
This versatile cabinet can be used as a serving or bar cart and rolls on 6 casters to support the cart's considerable weight. The three-panel door is a single left-hand door and a bifold right-hand door. The interior is spacious, with an adjustable shelf that has a cut-out section on the front edge to allow storage of taller bottles, a feature specific to Henredon Artefacts. Materials include brass pulls and hinges, with knotty oak veneer and solid ash for the cabinet.
But the coolest feature of this bar is the flip-top with two 20-inch leaves that extend out from either side, creating an 80 inch wide by 18 inch deep surface!! When closed, the bar top has the same oak finish as the cabinet, but when opened, it is black with an oak edge, set off by handsome brass hinges of the same type used on vintage sewing machine tables. The bar has small brass knobs on each side that pull out supports for the leaves. The black laminate buffet surface is heat and alcohol resistant.
This is a gorgeous, manly bar cart that you could imagine Sidney Poitier or Robert Redford mixing a cocktail on. It makes a great gift and is ideal for a smaller space.
Dimensions: 40 in wide (when top is closed, 80 in when open) x 18 in deep by 29.5 in tall.
Condition: Great vintage condition! The piece has been thoroughly cleaned and polished with beeswax. One scratch on the top (see photo) and a few on the doors and baseboard, but they mostly blend in with the oak grain. The inside surfaces that show when the leaves are extended are in like-new condition, as are the shelf and interior. The hinges in the top and on the cabinet doors all move smoothly with no rubbing.
