Elegant late 19th-century Victorian Fainting Couch chaise lounge featuring a beautifully carved walnut frame and striking hand-beaded floral upholstery.
The serpentine back and seat follow the classic Rococo Revival silhouette, with finely carved acanthus and scroll details along the crest rail and arms. The chaise rests on carved cabriole legs terminating in original brass casters, allowing it to be easily moved.
The upholstery is particularly distinctive: a richly colored burgundy ground decorated with intricate floral patterns composed of thousands of tiny hand-applied seed beads. This type of beadwork textile was a decorative luxury treatment seen in high-end European furnishings of the late Victorian era.
