The Bowl
12” cobalt dish (13” handle to handle) decorated in raised gold paste (or en relief) — built up by hand before firing, not printed or transferred. Gold trellis lattice covers the full surface, with white enamel jeweling at every intersection in the Sèvres Royal tradition.
Five Scenic Medallions
∙ Large central scene: courting couple in wooded pastoral landscape
∙ Four surrounding vignettes: cherubs and romantic figures
∙ All in the Fragonard/Watteau fête galante style
The Pedestal
Two sculptural white porcelain fish with hand-applied gold scale detail, rising from a cobalt and aventurine-gold coral base — a third distinct gilding technique. Far rarer than column or floral pedestals.
Condition
Very good. Cobalt, medallions, raised gold, and fish pedestal all vivid and intact. Handles show honest gold wear in areas. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
