The Skinny
Authentic Acoma Pueblo pottery — hand-coiled, hand-slipped, and carved with traditional geometric patterning in terracotta and white. Signed “Acoma, N.M. LC/CC” on the base. A beautifully executed contemporary piece that honors centuries of Pueblo ceramic tradition.
More Details
There’s a quiet discipline to Acoma pottery. The lines are precise. The carving deliberate. The symmetry almost architectural.
This bowl is hand-built using the traditional coil method, then slipped in white and carved back to reveal the natural red clay beneath. The layered geometric motifs — angled feather forms and triangular banding — are deeply rooted in Acoma design vocabulary, referencing nature, balance, and continuity.
The interior is smooth and minimally decorated, allowing the exterior carving to take center stage. The form is low and rounded, perfectly proportioned at 6” across — large enough to display, small enough to live easily on a shelf, console, or grouped vignette. The base is signed:
“Acoma, N.M. LC/CC”.
Measures 6” wide and deep and 4” tall.
In very good vintage condition. No cracks or structural damage observed. No rim chips. Carving remains crisp and intact. Interior shows minor natural speckling consistent with clay body and firing — not staining or damage. Base shows light shelf wear appropriate to age.
