A Masterpiece of French Horology from the Jura Mountains.
Presenting an authentic mid-century mantle clock by the prestigious Marque GIROD. Known for their robust movements and melodic resonance, Girod clocks from the Morbier (Jura) region are highly sought after by collectors of European horology. This "Streamline Moderne" piece is a perfect blend of mechanical complexity and Art Deco aesthetics.
The Soul of the Clock: 5-Rod Westminster Chime
This is a premium Three-Train movement (Time, Strike, and Chime) that offers the full Westminster experience:
Quarter-Hour Melody: Plays the classic Westminster quarters (1/4, 2/4, 3/4, and full melody on the hour).
5-Rod Gong Assembly: This 5-rod system provides a deep, rich, and orchestral tone that fills the room with a warm "cathedral" resonance.
Superior Engineering: Girod movements are famous for their reliability and the "soft-strike" quality of their hammers.
Circa: 1931–1933
Aesthetics: Excellent vintage condition. The wood grain is vibrant, and the chrome elements show minimal age-related patina, preserving its 1930s sleekness.
Winding: Use the provided original key. This is a Three-Train movement:
Left hole: Strikes the hours.
Center hole: Powers the timekeeping.
Right hole: Powers the Westminster melody.
Wind until you feel firm resistance, but do not force it.
Setting the Time: Always turn the minute hand clockwise. Allow the clock to finish its full melody at each quarter-hour (15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes) before moving to the next position. This ensures the chime synchronization remains perfect.
Dimensions (cm): 56x21x16
Dimensions (inch): 22x8x6
Clock weight with movement: 4250 gr
