Antique 1896-1920 Elite Works Limoges France Gilded Porcelain Berry Bowls - Set of 4
A stunning set of four antique "Elite Works" berry or dessert bowls, crafted in Limoges, France, by Bawo & Dotter. These fine porcelain bowls feature an elegant Art Nouveau scalloped rim adorned with heavy gold scrollwork and delicate "gold dusted" accents on a soft seafoam green border. The center well is finished in a crisp, bright white glaze, typical of the high-fired hard-paste porcelain for which the region is world-renowned. Each piece is double-marked on the reverse with the green underglaze factory mark and the red overglaze St. Martial decorating shield, dating this set precisely between 1896 and 1920.
Dimensions:
5.5" W x 5.5" D x 1.25" H
Condition:
Good antique condition. Three bowls are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. One bowl has a small, localized "flea bite" chip on the outer scalloped rim with minor accompanying gilding loss, as pictured. The gold decoration across the set remains remarkably vibrant and well-preserved with only very light surface wear consistent with a century of age.
Combining historical French craftsmanship with timeless gilded elegance, these versatile bowls are perfect for serving or as a refined display set for a china cabinet.
