At Turtle & Crane, we turn the past into stunning décor for today. This four-panel folding screen from the 1980s stands nine feet tall and paints an illusion: a Neoclassical palazzo seen in forced perspective through towering faux-marble arches, under a night sky with a lit lantern hanging in the foreground. It is a trompe l'oeil in the spirit of Piero Fornasetti's architectural work, and it opens a room the way a window would.
The screen measures 96" wide and 108" high, with panels 1" deep. Painted in black and metallic gold on wood and made in China, it divides a grand dining room, closes off a corner, or stands behind a sofa in a maximalist entry as a room divider. In the style of Maison Jansen, Tony Duquette, Dorothy Draper, and Cecil Beaton, it suits Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, and Neoclassical Revival rooms.
