Typical of the … Read more A set of four dinner plates and four salad plates comprise this set Imari Arita Peacock dinnerware. Typical of the Japanese pattern Imari pattern the scene within these plates unfold with vibrant peacock and traditional Japanese decor motifs in colors of forest green, bright orange, and splattering of navy blue with gold painted scalloped rims. The plates are raised one inch and have a dark rust color encircling the base.

The set of plates are in great condition with makers mark "Made in Japan" on reverse side.
The Arita "Imari Peacock" pattern, now discontinued, was primarily produced around 1987, with some pieces identified from the late 1970s to 1980s. It is a modern take on traditional Imari styles, which have a history dating back over 400 years.
