This is a set of six vintage salad or dessert plates in the Vernon’s 1860 pattern, produced by Vernon Kilns in California. The pattern features a romantic brown transferware border with floral cartouches framing a scenic landscape vignette, finished on a warm ivory ground with softly scalloped edges.
Vernon’s 1860 is one of the company’s most recognizable mid-century patterns, drawing inspiration from early American and Victorian-era tableware while being produced using durable mid-century California pottery techniques. These plates have wonderful visual depth and display beautifully layered with other brown transferware or mixed into eclectic table settings.
Each plate measures approximately 7 3/8 inches in diameter. There is minor age-related staining and some visible crazing consistent with vintage use. No chips or cracks are present. All pieces are structurally sound and display well.
