This is a wonderful Mechanical Chime Gilbert Mantel Clock from the 1890s. It has the date "April 1896" inscribed on its movement (see pic). Gilbert were a prominent clock maker based in Winsted Connecticut. Please note this clock has no key and no pendulum so I have not being able to test it. None the less, just as it is - cased in oak wood - this clock is going to look just fabulous on your shelf or mantel.
The clock case measures 20 1/2" wide x 9 1/2" height x 6" depth. It weighs 6lb 6oz.

Aesthetically the case shows signs of use and wear as most antique items do. The wood has minor marks here and there. The clock face shows signs of wear. Examine all the pictures closely. Zoom in & out to get a good sense of its exact condition: a picture tells a thousand words. The mechanics inside appear to be solid and in place (but I'm not a clock expert / fixer!)
