It is all things maximalist, ornate, and lavish and yet grounded in a very acute sense of organized symmetry. Originally a pier mirror (or pier glass) this piece was designed to fit on the wall space between two windows. They were often designed to hang above a pier table and reflected light into often very dark spaces. Of course you could hang it however you like now that we have electricity :) The mirror itself has a distinct arched / crowned shape...rectangular at the bottom and curved at the top. The encompassing frame is truly unique. It is solid wood and 100% hand carved and gilded. But, even though the wood frame connects completely on the backside, the creator chose to leave some front parts of the mirror exposed, making the framed accents all the more bold. It will add an air of character and distinct complexity to your room, and this character can be seen to overlap with certain other aesthetic categories, such as the luxury antique and vintage look.
