There is no original tag, but we found a picture of one online from a different glaze color set. It reads (partially): "Breakfast, lunch, tea (and dinner) will never be the same. A new concept in tableware dedicated to the proposition that less is enough. Designed by noted Danish potter, Niels Refsgaard, BLT gives you only the basics - a plate, a bowl, and a cup - all you really need for simple basic eating. Dishwasher proof stoneware and hand-decorated in "iron earth" glazes (that's what causes those little brown flecks)."
We have been unable to find any other information regarding the BLT line, other than a website claiming this specific shape with this specific glaze was made for American Express… but there is no clear substantiation of this claim. What we are certain of, is this shape matches the BLT shape that utilizes other glaze colors, and this set also has those "little brown flecks" as described above. We surmise then, that these are probably dishwasher proof (at least, as of the time of the tag printing).
It is also a mystery when these were made. Our guess is anywhere from the late 1970s/early 1980s through the very early 2000s (but likely the early 21st century). This is quite a large gap in time, but there are no other indicators pointing to a closer time period.
We also feel safe to assume that when the BLT line was first produced, there were no salad plates made. Thus, the salad plates—in all the colored glazes—are the most sought after, and particularly hard to find. And lastly, it seems fairly obvious that this dinnerware was developed marrying the BLT shape with the Nielstone Spice glaze—both designed by Niels Refsgaard.
No chips nor cracks
Spots of crazing throughout, but none are stained
Mostly light, some medium-ish utensil marks
We believe this to be a complete set that includes all the pieces produced for the BLT line.
