This antique chair from Italy has meticulous hand-carvings throughout, with particular emphasis along its back-splat rests and front stretcher in an acanthus leaf motif. The finials at each upper side of the chair curl into volutes, and this design is carried through in the four scrolling feet at bottom. The finish is a lovely old patina which is a reflection of the age of this piece, and there are traces of gilt found throughout. Please note that there are some losses, the upholstery is ready for refreshing, and that one of the rear legs have been replaced at some point. This period Baroque Italian armchair, with its intricate carvings and detail, will be a handsome addition to your home or office. See less
