Early 20th Century 22k Gold Mintons Gilt Porcelain Table Service - Nearly Complete Set for 12 - 47 Pieces Davis Collamore & Co., Fifth Avenue, New York
A refined 47-piece antique porcelain table service by Mintons, England, featuring an elegant neoclassical gilt scroll and urn border on a crisp white ground. This set was retailed by Davis Collamore & Co., Fifth Avenue & 48th Street, New York, one of America’s most prestigious luxury importers at the turn of the 20th century.
The mark on the back indicated the set was produced between 1891-1912, a revised mark from Minton's late 19th century logo with the addition of the crown above the globe.
The decoration is richly gilded in 22K gold with classical urn motifs, scrolling foliate arabesques, and double gilt banding, executed with the fine detail and balance for which Mintons is renowned. The restrained palette and formal symmetry make this service equally suited to traditional interiors, formal entertaining, and designer-styled tables. The service includes dinner plates for eleven along with a complete matching demitasse service for twelve, a rare set as cups and saucers were often lost or separated over time.
The presence of the Davis Collamore retailer’s mark places this set firmly within the elite American market for custom-commissioned English porcelain. An elegant and substantial antique service, ideal for formal dining, holiday entertaining, or as a statement collection for a well-appointed interior.
Set includes (47 pieces):
-11 dinner plates - 10.25" W
-12 luncheon plates - 8.75" W
-12 demitasse cups - 2.5" W x 2" H x 3" D (Handle to Edge of Cup)
-12 matching saucers - 4.5" W
Each piece is marked on the underside “Mintons England” with the Davis Collamore & Co. Fifth Avenue New York retailer stamp.
The word 'England' added from 1891
