This is a really charming piece
It is a large vintage clam shell form folding dish, cast metal (most likely aluminum or spelter) with a soft champagne-gold wash. It’s designed as two scallop shells hinged together so it opens like a clam
The hinge and small side pins are visible, which is typical of mid-century decorative metalware. It’s functional but also very sculptural.
