The coffee table is the stage of a living room, and this one makes an entrance. Lane Furniture made this oval Hollywood Regency cocktail table in the late 20th century. I found its heavy wrought iron base in a tired finish and transformed it in my Atelier.

I hand gilded the entire base in gold leaf over a black undertone, building it up in layers. Unlike a flat, factory-sprayed finish, it has real depth and a luminous Florentine sheen that catches natural light and glows in lamplight. Open, flowing scrolled ironwork sweeps out into curved legs, and the whole piece has the Palm Beach glamour of Maison Jansen and LaBarge. The base is rock-solid. At 49.5" wide, 28" deep, and 18" high, it anchors a formal living room, a maximalist parlor, or a chic contemporary space with a nod to 1960s Italian design imports.

A thick clear tempered glass top with a contoured edge sits in the iron frame. It is the original vintage glass, chosen for its weight and fit. It has no chips or deep scratches, but you may notice faint surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. The gilded finish is brand new.
