Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
Northwood’s Diamond Point pattern was made exclusively in vases, specifically, three sizes. Over the years, at least twenty different colors were offered. Of note, Diamond Point vases were first made in opalescent glass about 1906, as advertised in the Butler Bros Catalog of that year. Diamond Point must have been successful enough to allow Northwood to continue with the pattern into the carnival glass era. Most of the vases have a twelve-flame top, with fewer having a six-flame top. In addition, you will often find two bases, one that is concave and plain and the other with a 30-point ray.
This beauty has a twelve-flame top, height is 10¾” at the highest flame peak, which falls into the average standard height category. You’ll find a 30-point ray on the underside of the base with the Northwood “N” makers mark. The 12-point flamed rim diameter is 4¾”; base diameter 3½”; weight 1 lb. 2 oz. In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. There are random inclusions that are mostly indiscernible, original to the manufacturer as a result of the manufacturing process. Lastly, one of the fascinating aspects of swung vases is that no two are alike. I photographed the vase in the round to show all sides and the nuances of the pattern and coloring throughout the body.
For a collector of Northwood Diamond Point pattern vases, this beauty will be a great add to that collection of the perfect gift for someone who is.
