The design centers on a floral medallion framed by radiating dotwork and scalloped bands, transitioning to sweeping cartouches around the rim that echo classical Talavera motifs derived from Spanish and Moorish ceramic traditions. T

he terracotta clay body, visible along the foot, anchors the piece in the long ceramic lineage of central Mexico, where artisans continue to balance pattern symmetry with expressive brushwork. Marked on the underside “H. MEX — LEAD FREE — TCS,” the plate was produced for export with modern food-safe glazing while retaining artisanal hand-painted character.
