Pristine Pre-Owned Condition.
This whimsical cutie was given to me many years ago and it has seldom been used so time to find it a great new home, yours perhaps? Handcrafted by Metlox Pottery, it is part of their Poppytrail California Strawberry Collection, Pattern 590, which made its debut in 1961. The collection included a full line of dinnerware and dessert serveware, from which this bowl is a part of. In pristine condition, there are three firing pin marks on the underside as a result of the manufacturing process. It measures 6½” x 5¼” x 2” L/W/H; weight 12 oz.; highly glazed earthenware in a bright fiery red with olive green foliage. The makers mark is faint but it is the one the company began using in the 1950s, incised Metlox at the top with Poppytrail superimposed over an outline of the State of California and Calif at the bottom. It’s the perfect piece for someone who enjoys collecting mid-century California pottery or for someone who owns the dessert set and is looking for an extra bowl.
