Here is a fantastic ornately carved and cut-out pair of Victorian slipper chairs made in the style of John Henry … Read more Here is a fantastic ornately carved and cut-out pair of Victorian slipper chairs made in the style of John Henry Belter with layers of laminated rosewood which was treated with steam and pressure to make the wood stronger, more playable and easier to carve. These chairs match but are not identical, the flowers in the center of the crest are not the same, the color of the stain is not exactly the same shade and there are other harder to notice differences proving they were hand carved and they are not signed by John Henry Belter but are made in his style.

John Henry Belter was in business from 1843 to 1863 when he died at the age of 59. His high style fancy furniture was very popular and was copied by other furniture makers.

These chairs are 40 inches high, 19 inches deep and 18 inches wide. The seat is 16 inches deep, 18 inches wide and 17 inches high and the back is 23 inches from the seat.
