This vintage Copeland Spode bowl features the classic “Italian” transferware pattern in the less common black-and-white color variation. Made in England and dating to the 1800s, the bowl presents the pattern’s traditional Italianate pastoral scene, framed by the characteristic Imari-influenced border designed by Josiah Spode in 1816. The rim is finished with gold gilt, and the piece is marked on the underside.
Produced using underglaze transfer printing, this example reflects the long-established English ceramic tradition associated with Spode. The black-and-white palette and gilt detail offer a refined variation on the well-known pattern. The bowl represents a collectible piece of English transferware suitable for display or functional use.
