Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
Romance and beauty, staples of French culture, come together in the playful, yet elegant themes of the Rococo and Louis XV periods. This elegantly graceful Louis XV-style rectangular casket-type trinket box features a rounded corner beveled clear glass pane encased in a 24K gold-plated filigree frame. The one-piece frame rests on diminutive Rococo-style cabriole-shaped legs adorned with curled endive and acanthus leaf ornamentation. The center front portion of the box is accented with a curled ribbon and shell garland design which plays well against the box’s open work floral and acanthus leaf motif. The 5mm thick rounded corner beveled glass stress-free hinged top is framed by a decorative all-around border. The original interior velvet-lined bed, done in a sumptuous antiqued golden hue, is in excellent condition. This beauty weighs 1 lb. 9 oz. and measures as follows:
Overall: 9” x 4” x 3¼” W/D/H
Interior: 8¾” x 3¾” x 1½” W/D/H
In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. As mentioned above the interior velvet bed is also, in excellent condition with no stains and little, if any wear. A few well-known companies that produced this type of decorative box, from the 1920s to 1960s and possibly even into the early 1970s, included Matson, Stylebuilt, Guildcrest and Globe. Though the original makers label has been removed, we believe this well made and thoughtfully appointed beauty was produced by Stylebuilt in the 1960s in the United States.
Nicely-sized, it is wider than the more commonly seen petite casket trinket box. This beauty is perfectly suited to store and display your trinkets and treasures atop a vanity or dresser top or a perfect gift for a collector of ornate trinket boxes.
