This bowl is probably intended for use within a tea ceremony. The bronze bowl is of great form and was originally gilded or silver gilt and has the makers signature. The gilding has worn quite heavily on the bowl giving it a very unique patina, this style of gilt bronze bowl is very unusual for Japanese pieces. The original pine box is included with the bowl.

Condition: There is significant wear to the gilding as well as some damages to the pine box.
